Job Description 

The Kitchen at Banff Centre is searching for dedicated full-time Stewards to work behind the scenes in their different dining facilities. Dishwashers, who are team players with a positive attitude, maintain an appropriate supply of clean trays, plates, and utensils in the service areas and dining rooms.

• During the shift, fill and drain the dishwasher.
• Sort dirty dishes, cutlery, and glassware by type and place in the dishwasher.
• Prepare pots and pans for dishwasher use.
• Clean dishes and utensils should be unloaded and stored in specific spaces in the kitchen and servery facilities.
• Follow the Chief Steward’s weekly schedule of cleaning, soaking, and polishing responsibilities.
• For special events, clean, polish, and prepare banquet equipment.
• After each meal period, clean the dishwasher by emptying the water tanks, removing all rubbish gathered in the tanks, spraying any residue on the inside of the machine, and polishing the outside of the machine, including the unloading end.
• Clean the walls, ceilings, and floors in the dishroom and garbage room, including garbage cans, on a daily and weekly basis.
• Keep the hallway adjacent to the dish-room and food lift clean.
• Spray and clean carts/cabinets as needed.
• When necessary, hose and soap garbage cans.
• Clean and organize the dish-room shelves and kitchen shelves where the inserts are stored.

 Educational Requirements and Qualification

• Previous dishwashing experience, including both hand and commercial dishwasher cleaning.
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
• Capable of communicating and taking directions in English Due to the nature of the job, the candidate must be willing to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.

Job Benefits

• According to CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support service employment with a 500-hour probationary term.
• This employment pays $18.18 per hour and requires up to 40 hours per week on a rotating basis.
