Admission Requirements for DW Akademie Scholarships
- First, qualified applicants from developing countries can apply for a scholarship and finish their degrees in their home countries. This opportunity gives them direct access to the job market.
- Each year, they choose up to 30 people for the program.
- Also, this project is for young journalists and media managers from emerging countries. They include Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. However, people from Germany and other countries in the European Union can apply for a partial scholarship.
- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and one year of work experience in a media-related field after college.
- Further, all candidates must also understand how to speak and write English.

- What is the link between Akademie and DW?
The Deutsche Welle Akademie is a division of DW. It is Germany’s worldwide broadcaster’s education and knowledge transfer center. Also, their contribution supports DW’s journalistic services. But they are not involved in the broadcast programming of DW.
2. Does DW Akademie offer any training?
DW Akademie has a lot of different training and education programs for people who work in the media. These include the International Media Studies Master’s program, media training for professionals for people who have bachelor’s degrees.
3. Are there extra expenses?
To cover your living expenses, you’ll need about 800 € per month. Please make sure you can cover this amount before applying to the program, as there are only a few opportunities to work while studying.

For media training courses at the Bonn and Berlin locations, the costs can vary based on the length and type of training that is given. Because a one-day workshop on how to stay safe in the digital world costs 560 euros, and a five-day media training course in TV moderation costs 1,500 euros.
