Job DescriptionÂ
The Maintenance Trade Worker will report to the Manager, Facilities and Operations in this position. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and highly motivated individual who works effectively both independently and in groups.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the hospital’s numerous electrical/mechanical/plumbing systems.
- Excellent IPAC knowledge
- Inspect, test, and run any of the systems or equipment to ensure that they are all operational.
- As needed, communicate with contractors/vendors.
- Estimate installation, repair, and maintenance entities as needed.
- Maintain necessary records and provide monthly, yearly, and other operational reports as needed.
- As needed, perform preventative and planned maintenance.
- Assist in project delivery by performing duties such as window removal, painting and trim work, wall demolition, drywall installation and repair, housekeeping, and so on.
- Reports dangerous problems, shortcomings, and anomalous system conditions and makes recommendations for fixes or upgrades.
- Using the CMMS to complete service requests electronically; controlling the work request life cycle from dispatch to completion.
- Ensure that work quality satisfies internal and regulatory standards.
- Complies with all internal and external requirements, including but not limited to H&S, Fire Protection, and Environmental Works closely with internal/external stakeholders to ensure that work is completed in an efficient and non-impactful way.
Required Key Skills and Abilities

- Professional manner, with the ability to easily relate to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Previous employment experience in a Healthcare Facilities Department.
- Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to make quick and accurate modifications or repairs to equipment.
- Maintain tight confidentiality in very sensitive situations.
- Must be able to operate quickly under emergency settings and accomplish repairs.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools, as well as welding and torch equipment, and be aware of the risks involved.
- Must be able to read and comprehend plans as well as provincial and municipal codes.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to think critically and remain cool under stressful conditions.
- A current license awarded by the Ontario College of Trades in one or more of the following trades is required. Plumber, Mechanic for Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems, Millwright in Construction and maintenance electricians or industrial electricians.
