Job Description
At the Richardson Port Terminal in North Vancouver, British Columbia, we are now hiring general laborers. This is a chance to work in one of the world’s most thriving grain handling plants that distributes canola and cereal grains to nations along the Pacific Rim. In a heavy industrial setting, as a General Laborer, you will begin in an entry-level position and undergo training for several of our Production positions.
- Heavy clean up duties such as shoveling grain spills, sweeping floors, brushing down equipment and structures, vacuuming grain residues.
- Load / unload products to/from rail cars and trucks.
- Participates in training of other Rail Yard duties i.e. rail car switching and locomotive operations.
- Provide assistance and relief to other Production team members.
- Operate equipment within defined parameters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum GED or diploma from grade 12.
- Stacking and lifting 50 pounds must be possible without assistance.
- The capacity to safely perform heavy industrial tasks with little supervision.
- Basic computer knowledge and mechanical aptitude.
- Basic knowledge of mathematics, logic, and problem-solving.
- Ability to speak well in a group setting.
- Desire to become multi-trained and become familiar with our business.
- Demonstrates personal initiative, a willingness to learn, and diligence.
- A strong commitment to quality and safety, and Working in situations like heights, limited spaces, dust, and severe temperatures.
- Ability to perform a rotation of shifts, including graveyard, day, and evening shifts.
